Journal of Popular Romance Studies Notes and Queries Editor

The Journal of Popular Romance Studies (JPRS) is seeking a Notes and Queries editor to join our editorial team. This is a volunteer position.

JPRS is a double-blind peer reviewed interdisciplinary journal exploring popular romance fiction and the logics, institutions, and social practices of romantic love in global popular culture.

The Notes and Queries section of JPRS invites scholars, readers, and writers to send in short notes, questions, and answers on topics of concern to the study of popular romance. This section aims to create a more immediate dialogue on issues and trends in the field. Moreover, it offers the opportunity for our community of scholars to share insights on aspects of popular romance that would not fit the scope and requirements of a more traditionally published academic article. More details on the section are available on our website: https://www.jprstudies.org/submissions/notes-and-queries-section/

The Notes and Queries editor is responsible for:

  • Managing the Notes and Queries section;
  • Attending editorial team meetings (quarterly) and the twice-yearly Editorial Board meeting;
  • Sending completed notes and queries for copyediting and proofing.

Individuals are appointed to all roles at JPRS for a three-year term. Job-sharing between two people is permitted for all roles including this one. We estimate this role would require a commitment of 1-2 hours per week.

Please send any queries along with applications consisting of a covering letter (max 2 pages) and CV (max 3 pages) to Dr Amy Burge at managing.editor@jprstudies.org by 1 November 2023. In your covering letter, please outline why you are interested in the position, and how you would like to see the section developing with you as its editor.
